OIST means Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology. They’re accepting applications for their internship in fall 2024. It’s a fully funded opportunity in Japan for students from any country. The internship will occur from October 1st, 2024, to March 31st, 2025. If you’re a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD student, or you’ve recently graduated, you can apply for this prestigious program.
You don’t have to take any IELTS or TOEFL tests to apply. The internship usually lasts between 2 and 6 months, typically around 10 to 12 weeks. The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) will cover your airfare, accommodation, stipend (money for your needs), meals, and visa support. Internship Fields
The OIST Research Intern program is for STEM fields.
Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Neuroscience, Mathematics, Computational Science, Environmental Science, Ecological Science, Marine Science, General Science, Engineering, and Medical.

Eligibility Criteria
You need to meet the conditions set by the OIST Graduate School.
- Students can be from any country. There is no nationality restriction.
- No need for any IELTS or TOEFL Test.
- Applicants who are enrolled in a Graduate Degree program can apply.
- Individuals presently engaged in the active pursuit of an undergraduate academic qualification are also eligible to apply.
- Applicants who have recently graduated can also apply.
- Students in their third and fourth years of undergraduate studies, as well as those in their first and second years of master’s programs, are strongly encouraged to apply.
