How to Apply for the UK Commonwealth Scholarship?

To apply for the Commonwealth Scholarship 2024, you need to follow two steps:

1) Commonwealth Online Application System

To apply for the CSC Scholarship, you must use their online application system. They won’t consider any applications or documents sent through other methods, like email or regular mail.

Candidates are advised to complete the application form as early as possible. Don’t wait for the last date, the online application system will be bustling in the previous days and can cause issues.

2) Apply to the Nominating Agency

In addition to applying to the CSC, you must also apply to the education authority in your home country for nomination.

There are three types of nominating agencies for PhD Scholarships:

Once you have determined which organization is applicable to your country, they will forward your candidacy to the CSC for consideration. Please keep in mind that the CSC does not accept direct applications for these scholarships.

Applicants should look at the extra requirements provided by the nominating agency on their website when they announce details about the Commonwealth scholarship.

Please note that agencies in charge of nominations may have their own specific deadlines regarding the submission of applications. It is important to check with each agency individually in order to ensure that you are aware of all relevant closing dates.

Agencies will nominate scholarship candidates to the CSC by December 2023.

Outcome of Application

Applicants can expect to hear the outcome by July 2024.

Financial Coverage

The Commonwealth Scholarship will give each scholarship recipient:

  • Return Air Ticket
  • Covers Full Tuition Fee
  • Monthly allowance of £1,347 per month or £1,652 per month.
  • Also covers the warm clothes allowance.
  • Thesis Allowance
  • Additional Study Travel Grants
  • If the candidates are widowed, divorced, or single parents, the scholarship pays the child £576.61 for the first child and £143 per month for the second and third child under the age of 16.
  • Additional allowance for a disabled person.

Applicants need to attach these documents to their application:

  • You must show evidence that you are a citizen of a country eligible for the Commonwealth Scholarship.
  • A Copy of a Valid Passport
  • A complete transcript detailing all higher education qualifications, including transcripts to date for any courses currently being studied, with a certified translation if not in English.   • When submitting your application, please make sure to include references from at least two individuals. Eligibility Criteria for Applicants

  • You must either be a citizen of that country or have been given refugee status in that country mentioned earlier.
  • Permanent resident of any of the above-mentioned countries.
  • You must be ready to begin your academic studies in September 2024.
  • By September 2024, hold a first degree of at least upper second-class (2:1) honors standard, or a lower second-class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree).
  • You should not have enough money to pay for your studies in the UK unless you get this scholarship.
  • They have provided all the supporting documents in the required format.
