Applications are now open for the AAUW International Fellowship 2026.
This is a scholarship for women who are not U.S. citizens and wish to study full-time for a master’s or doctoral degree in the United States.. It is offered by the American Association of University Women (AAUW). Also, five extra scholarships are available for women who are part of Graduate Women International (GWI). These women can use the scholarship to study in any country that is not their own (check the list of GWI member countries). The goal of the program is to support women’s education and promote equality for women around the world. There is no fee to apply for this fellowship, and the fellowship will start in July 2026.

Financial Benefits
AAUW International Fellowship Funding Amounts:
- Master’s/First Professional Degree: $20,000
- Doctoral Degree: $25,000
- Postdoctoral Research: $50,000
These funds can be used for:

- Travel for business meetings, conferences, or seminars (not exceeding 10% of the total fellowship amount).

Renewal Condition
The Fellowship may be renewed for a second year for a maximum of five Master’s or first professional degree candidates, particularly those who are high-ranking first-year students entering a two-year Master’s programme.
Study Level & Fields of Study
- Master’s: Graduate degrees such as J.D., M.F.A., L.L.M., M.Arch., or required certifications, associate degrees, and medical degrees such as M.D., D.D.S., etc. are ineligible.
- Doctoral Fellowships: Intended for Research degrees, such as Ph.D. or Ed.D.
- Postdoctoral Fellowships: Applicants must provide proof of their doctorate; hold a doctorate classified as a research degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., D.B.A., D.M.) or an M.F.A. by the application deadline; and indicate where they will conduct their research.

Eligibility Criteria
- Gender: Must be or identify as a woman.
- Academic Qualification: Must hold a degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s with a minimum 3.5 GPA for their highest degree.
- Study Level: Must be admitted or enrolled in their first master’s or an academic or professional doctorate (e.g., MA, MS, MBA, PhD, JD, MD).
- Location of Study: Full-time study in the U.S. at a U.S. Department of Education-accredited institution.
- International Study Exception: If they are studying in their home country or a country other than the United States, they must be a member of Graduate Women International and study at a school eligible for US federal student aid.
