Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition 2025 (Free Trip to London)

Candidates can now apply for the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition 2025. This global writing competition offers certificates, prizes, and a fully funded one-week academic trip to London. There is no fee to apply. It is the world’s oldest writing competition and is open to residents of Commonwealth countries, Ireland, Hong Kong, and Zimbabwe. The winner and runners-up will be invited to the UK. London for a special awards ceremony at Buckingham Palace. The theme of the 2025 competition is “The Story of Our Commonwealth”. Essay Topics For Junior Categories

    The Commonwealth includes both small islands like Nauru and large countries like India. Suppose you are traveling from a Commonwealth state to a small island.. What do you see along the way? Who do you meet?

     

  4. A journey in a book
    You find a secret door that guides you to your favorite book! What happens when you step inside?

     

  5. Animal CHOGM
    In October 2024, Commonwealth leaders will meet in Samoa for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). Imagine a CHOGM where animals gather! Which animals take part? What do they talk about?

Essay Topics For Senior Categories

candidates can only Select ONE Topic (At least 1500 Words).

  1. Equal access to education is a core value of the Commonwealth Charter. Although progress has been made, there is still more work to be done. Imagine a nation where everyone has an equal opportunity to learn.

     

  2. Myth and folklore help us understand history and culture. Tell a famous folk tale from your country or another Commonwealth country in a new and unexpected way.

     

  3. “Humans have always had a need to engage with literature – for its knowledge but also its sheer escapism.” – Her Majesty Queen Camilla. Books can take us on amazing adventures! Write about a time when a book took you on a journey and the impact it had on you.
  4. From tiny seeds to large redwoods, trees, and plants experience change and growth throughout their lives. Write a story about the life journey of a plant growing in the heart of your community. What is your experience?

Eligibility Criteria

  • The program was initiated by citizens and residents of Commonwealth countries and residents of Ireland, Hong Kong, and Zimbabwe.
  • Age Requirements:
    • Junior Category: May 16, 2005 and May 15, 2010 (Age 14-18)
    • Senior Category: May 16, 2010 (Age under 14)
    • Word Limit: Junior – 750 words, Senior – 1500 words.
