Applications are now open for the Polonista NAWA 2026 Scholarship. The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange funds this scholarship. The scholarship supports students who want to learn more about the Polish language, culture, and academic research related to Poland. Selected participants will work for 3 to 12 months on research projects in the following fields:

- Teaching Polish as a Foreign Language
- History
- History of Art
- Comparative Studies.

Overview of the Polonista NAWA 2026 Scholarship
This scholarship program promotes Polish language and culture by supporting multinational students (Undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD) and researchers.
- Basics: Polish language, literature, history, art, and comparative studies.
- Time Period: 3 to 12 months for research projects; 1 to 2 semesters for students.
So far, 16 Polish institutions have hosted participants.
- Top for Students: University of Warsaw, Adam Mickiewicz University (Poznań), University of Silesia (Katowice), and Jagiellonian University (Kraków).
- Top for Researchers: Nicolaus Copernicus University (Toruń), Adam Mickiewicz University, and University of Silesia.

Tracks
The scholarship is divided into two basic tracks:
- Incoming Offer (For Foreigners)
- Students: Those studying Polish philology or Slavic studies abroad who want to spend a semester or 2 in Poland.
- Scientists: Researchers from foreign academic centers who wish to conduct research in fields like Polish linguistics, history, or art history.
- Outgoing Offer (For Polish Citizens)
- Researchers/Teachers: Polish scholars can receive funding to conduct research or teach at foreign institutions offering Polish or Slavic studies programs.

How to Apply?
Find a host university:
First, contact a university in Poland and obtain a “Declaration of the host institution” (invitation or confirmation letter). The university must agree to host your studies or research.
Register on the NAWA portal:
Go to the website and create an account.
Complete the online form:
Fill out the application form in Polish or English.
