Applications are open for the OIST Research Internship in Japan for Fall 2026. This is a fully funded internship for international students from any country.
Internships at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) last from 3 to 6 months. The Fall 2026 program will run from October 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027.
Students from around the world are eligible to apply. Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree, as well as those who have already earned a bachelor’s or master’s degree, are eligible.
Interns will work with and learn from an OIST supervisor. IELTS is not required. More details are provided below.

Eligibility Criteria
- Students can be from any country. There are no nationality restrictions.
- No IELTS or TOEFL tests are required.
- Applicants enrolled in an undergraduate degree program are eligible to apply.
- Applicants enrolled in a graduate degree program are eligible to apply.
- Applicants who have recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree are also eligible to apply.
