The Internet Society is offering the Peering Fellowship 2026, a unique program for professionals interested in Internet infrastructure, connectivity, and global networking systems. This is no ordinary fellowship—it’s a learning + real-world experience focused on how networks connect globally. In 2026, the Peering Fellowship will be held in Kigali, Rwanda; Mendoza, Argentina; and Osaka, Japan. This is a fully funded fellowship program. More details are below.

About the Fellowship
This program helps 20 peering and interconnection professionals learn the skills, knowledge, and tools they need to solve challenges and maximize opportunities. It also supports the growth of the Internet and helps build a strong community at peering events.
What to Expect from the Fellowship?

- Learn how Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) operate
- Understand global internet connectivity and peering

- A round-trip air ticket to one peering event.
- Hotel accommodation for the duration of the event.
- A fixed stipend for additional needs for the duration of the event
Peering Events, Location & Dates
- Selected fellows living in Africa will attend AfPIF in Kigali, Rwanda, August 18-21.
- Selected fellows living in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) will attend LACNIC/LACNOG in Mendoza, Argentina, October 19-22.
- Selected fellows living in Asia Pacific (APAC) will attend Peering Asia in Osaka, Japan, November 2-6.
- Selected fellows living in the Middle East – TBC
Eligibility Criteria
- Live in or reside in Africa, Asia Pacific (APAC), Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), or the Middle East.
- Participants from least developed countries (LDCs) and small island developing states are encouraged to apply.
- Have at least 3 years of experience.
- You are interested in how the internet connects globally.
- You want to develop in the technical and policy space.
