This paid, full-time internship in the U.S. is open to undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral students. Over 10 weeks, from June to August 2026, you’ll work with the FBI and gain hands-on experience at one of the country’s top law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
You can choose up to three preferred locations, including the FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C., or one of 55 field offices around the U.S.
Pay ranges from \$30,795 to \$44,786 per year, based on location and role.

Compensation
This is a paid internship. For the Summer 2026 program, the salary will range between \$30,795 and \$44,786 per year, depending on your level of education. This follows the GS-5 government pay scale.
- GS-5 Pay: Interns who have a bachelor’s degree and are currently enrolled in a full-time graduate program.
- GS-4 Pay: All other full-time students, including:
- Dual-enrollment students
- Undergraduate students enrolled in a graduate course.

Fields and Background
The FBI is looking for interns from many different fields of study. These include, but aren’t limited to: accounting, foreign languages, IT (information technology), criminal justice, journalism, law, and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs.

Eligibility Criteria
To apply, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be a full-time student at a college or university accredited by the US (undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral level).
- Do not graduate before the internship starts, unless you’re planning to keep studying in the next semester right after the program ends
- Maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA or better:
- At the time of application
- Throughout the application process
- For the duration of the internship program.
- Meeting all requirements for FBI employment background checks and being able to obtain Top Secret clearance.
