Einstein Fellowship in Germany (Fully Funded)

The Einstein Forum and the Wittgenstein Foundation want to help unemployed young scientists from the global world by giving them a scholarship. This scholarship will let them work on a research project that’s different from what they usually do. They want to support young researchers who, like Albert Einstein, excel in their field and show a strong interest in different areas of study.

You can now apply for the Einstein Fellowship 2025! It’s for smart young people from anywhere in the world. The Einstein Forum and the Wittgenstein Foundation give this fellowship. It’s for brilliant thinkers who want to work on a project in a new area, different from what they’ve done before. The goal is to help those doing serious work in their field, no matter what. This fellowship is especially for those candidates who want to try out research in a different field.

This scholarship comes with a stay at Einstein’s summer house in Caputh, which lasts for about 5 to 6 months. The Einstein House is important for both science and architecture history and is connected to universities in Potsdam and Berlin. The receiver of the scholarship gets €10,000 and their travel charges are covered.

Requirements:

Candidates should be under 35 years old and have a university degree in humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences. For the 2025 application, applicants should submit a resume and a summary of the project they idea to do with the scholarship (both in English), along with 2 educational references, by June 1, 2024.

Fellowship Benefits

Yes, you will get:

• €10,000 to cover your living worth.
• Reimbursement for your travel cost, including air ticket.
• Accommodation at the garden cottage in Einstein Summerhouse.
• The fellowship will last for five to six months, starting in the summer. The exact dates will be confirmed later.
• You can bring your family, but you’ll need to cover their travel expenses yourself.

Announcement

The professor is expected to properly document their scientific work during their time in Caputh. This includes giving a public talk at both the Einstein Forum and the Wittgenstein Foundation. But, the scholarship is not meant to finish work that has already started, like a dissertation or thesis.

Applications will be assessed based on the quality, originality, and feasibility of the project plan, as well as the student’s academic background. Whether someone has started or fulfilled a PhD doesn’t matter. The proposed speculation doesn’t have to be finished within the given time frame; it can serve as a starting point for a new, longer project.

Is TOEFL/IELTS required?

They don’t need TOEFL or IELTS scores because they look for your application to show that you’re already good at English.

NOTE: KINDLY NOTE THAT THIS SCHOLARSHIP IS NOT ALLOW FOR A RESEARCH PROJECT WITHIN A DISSERTATION. SUBMITTED PROJECTS MUST BE NOTICEABLY DIFFERENT IN CONTENT, SCOPE, AND FORMAT FROM THE CANDIDATES PREVIOUS WORK.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates should be younger than 35 years old and possess a bachelor’s degree in either humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences.
• Additionally, your submission should comprise a curriculum vitae, a two-page outline of your proposed project, and two letters of endorsement.

Final Result of the Fellows

The Albert Einstein Scholarship helps creative, interdisciplinary thinking by giving skillful young researchers the chance to work on a project that’s different from their common scientific work. From 2007 to 2009, the scholarship was given by the Einstein Forum and the ZEIT Foundation Ebelin and Gerd Bucerius.
