Applications are now open for the U.S.-Japan Council Emerging Leaders Program 2025. This is a fully funded program taking place in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, from October 13 to 17, 2025 (5 days). There is no application fee, and all costs—including flights, hotel stays, meals, and program activities—are completely covered. Each year, the program selects 12 young leaders to join the U.S.-Japan Council Annual Conference. These leaders also become Associate Members of the Council. The goal of the program is to support and inspire the next generation of leaders. It helps participants build leadership skills, make professional connections, and form lasting friendships. Participants will also learn about the current and future relationship between the U.S. and Japan and engage in discussions on important and timely topics. Eligibility Criteria

Age: You must be between 24 and 35 years old by the time of the conference.

Citizenship: You must be a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident (green card holder).

Where You Live: You should live in the United States or Japan, and you must be able to travel to Honolulu for the conference.

Interest in U.S.-Japan Relations: You should have a clear interest in the relationship between the U.S. and Japan. This can be shown through your job, studies, volunteer work, or community activities.

Leadership: You should have experience leading in your job or community.

Ongoing Involvement: You should be willing to stay involved with U.S.-Japan Council programs even after the conference ends.
