This great opportunity is a 10-week fully-funded internship for international students from any state. Woods Hole selects 25-30 students every summer for this awesome opportunity. But the exact dates have not yet been set, members will come in late May and mid-June 2025.
The best part? There is no application charge, and all expenses are covered! This internship is hosted by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) and welcomes students from a variety of academic fields. During the program, selected students will work on a research project under the guidance of a supervisor. Eligibility Criteria for WHSSF in the USA
- Fellowships are open to undergraduates finishing their junior year before the fellowship starts.
- Graduating students are not eligible.
- All over the world students are welcome, and individuals from underrepresented groups in ocean science are helpful to apply.
- For 3-year bachelor’s programs (e.g., in the United Kingdom), students should be in their 2nd year, and for 5-year bachelor’s/master’s programs, students must be in their 3rd year.
- Fellows are required to deliver a progress report midway through the summer, complete a written research report by the end of the program, and publicly present their findings in either an oral or poster format.
- Attending the Summer Lecture Series and Ethics in Science Workshop is required
